Fire Safety Awareness for the Workplace

Most fire training tells you to leave by the nearest exit and wait at the assembly point. In a care setting, that advice can get people killed. Many of the people you support cannot walk out unaided, so the plan is different: raise the alarm fast, close doors, move people sideways into a safe compartment, and get the fire service on the road within minutes. This course shows you what really starts fires where you work, including the emollient cream risk behind the UK's record fire safety fine. You'll know what each extinguisher does, why a fire door only works shut, what the fire marshal is for, and exactly what to do in the minutes that decide whether everyone survives.

Course content

5 modules

Where fires start in a care setting: cooking, electrical faults, smoking, charging batteries and the emollient cream risk most training never mentions. You'll learn to spot each one on shift.
What each extinguisher type does, when it is safe to use one, and why a closed fire door saves lives while a wedged one breaks the law.
When and how to raise the alarm, and what the fire marshal does before and during an emergency. You'll learn why the first minutes decide who survives, and why no one ever silences a detector.
How evacuation really works in care: moving people sideways to safety behind fire doors, following each person's evacuation plan, and supporting someone who cannot walk out unaided.
The graded assessment: ten questions drawn from a bank of thirty, covering the whole course. Pass it to earn your certificate.
